As a motivated problem solver, my time with ASYMCA was a fruitful experience where my love for community nutrition flourished. In my short tenure I was able to bring growth to the programs at ASYMCA El Paso, by developing the food systems, processes and procedures to allow for a cost-free food market to run on Fort Bliss, TX. Securing sustainable food donations, used to serve over 200 families weekly consistently was a feat well supported by leadership on Fort Bliss and ASYMCA alike. By traveling to Killeen for Executive Leadership Training, I was able to share my experiences with other ASYMCA branches nationally. Communicating the networking strategies I used at my own branch in working with partner agencies to maintain a stocked and cost-free food market, I was able to help to enhance the reach of the organization. In being collaborative, and executing the vision of Executive Director George Elsaesser, we brought to fruition the cost-free market. It continues to thrive as the main food program at ASYMCA, El Paso/Fort Bliss.  By developing lasting partner relations, and contributing to ongoing volunteer recruitment, my impact within the non-profit outlives my tenure. It is my hope to continue working with outreach efforts supporting military families experiencing food insecurity in the future.
